August Club Card #2

Below are two versions of a Halloween card we made at my August Stamp club meetings.  We used the stamp set, Holiday Home, from the 2014 Holiday Catalog and the Homemade Holiday Framelits Dies (to cut out the house.)
The main difference between these cards is how we made the haunted house.  The first house was stamped on Whisper White card stock and colored using Smokey Slate Blendabilities markers.
The second house was stamped onto Basic Gray AND Daffodil Delight card stock.  I cut the windows out of the Daffodil card stock and glued them on the Basic Gray cardstock.

Most of my club members chose to use the Blendabilities.  These markers are FABULOUS for showing depth and dimension when coloring an image.

Tuesday's Tip - Stampin' Sponge Tip

I sponge color onto almost every card I make.  I like to use a different sponge for each ink - instead of using one sponge for similar colors or washing the sponges after using them.  Watch the video to see how I label and store my sponges!

There are a lot of Stampin' Up! specials going on right now.

August Club Card 1

This is the first card we made made at my August stamp club meetings.  It is an interlocking card.  Below is a photo that shows how the card opens.

I was inspired by Julie Davison and Dawn Olchefske to try this fun card.  This "WOW" card is really quite easy to make.  I used the Daydream Medallions stamp set and the coordinating Floral Framelit Dies - which BOTH can be yours for FREE if you purchase a Big Shot this month.  There are 4 other stamp set/ framelit bundles you could choose for free.  Already have a Big Shot?  Then you can save 15% when purchasing one (or more!) of these bundles.

August Stamp Club's 3-D Project

My stamp club meetings are this weekend and below is the 3D project we will be making - a fry box, using the new Fry Box Bigz Die from Stampin' Up!
You can fill this box with almost anything - to give as a little treat.  It was super easy to make, so this would make the perfect party favor or classroom treat.  (School's starting soon!)  It could also be used for your holiday place settings.  I made my box using retired designer series paper.  My club members will get to choose whether to make a Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas themed box.

I used the stamp set Tags 4 You to make the label.  It works perfectly with the Bracket Label punch.  This set is only available for another week!  When the new Holiday Catalog is released on August 28, this and several other stamp sets will also retire.  You can view the retiring stamp sets by CLICKING ON THIS LINK

If there is anything on this list that you must have - you can order now by CLICKING HERE.  If you place on order online, please use the hostess code: EFEZCMPN

You may also CONTACT ME to help you place your order.

I didn't go to the Stampin' Up! Convention this year, but my friend, Shelly, did!  We went out to dinner a few weeks ago so she could tell me all about it.  Here are a few of my favorite swaps from the MANY that she received.

The card below was made by Cathy Seal from Bloomington, MN.

Star Stamper

Each month after my stamp club meetings are over I choose a Star Stamper.
To be considered for this honor you must
  • attend a stamp club meeting
  • bring your personal copy of the catalog
  • have enough adhesive to complete the projects we make
  • submit your order and payment at the club meeting.
Everyone who does all four things gets their name put into the drawing.  My Paper Pumpkin Subscribers get an extra entry into the drawing.

Because everyone has been trying so hard to get a chance to be the star stamper, I have picked two winners this month.  This month's winners are:
Here are the two prizes - one for each winner.

The top one is a kit for making ornaments and other holiday decorations.  The bottom one is a Christmas keepsake box.  Anna and Kelly - leave a comment on this blog post to tell me which prize you prefer.  The first one to leave a comment will get her first choice!

August stamp club meetings will be August 22-24.  CLICK HERE to see my calendar of events and to RSVP.

Stamp Club "Thank You" Gift

I really enjoy holding my Stamp Club meetings each month.  I have even added some morning times this summer and so I have been able to have more people join me for some stamping fun!  As a way to show my appreciation, I have a little gift for everyone who takes the time to attend a meeting.

At my July meetings, each person who attended chose one of these boxes.  They were filled with odds and ends, including ribbon, bows, paper scraps, sponges, brads, Dazzling Details, and more!  The box is super easy to make.

Start with a 6x6 piece of Designer Series Paper.  Using THE ENVELOPE PUNCH BOARD, punch and score at 2 and 4 inches on all sides.  You will have to make cuts along some of the score lines to fold up the box.

I punched a hole in each top flap and threaded ribbon through. You do not even need to glue the box together if you are using ribbon.  You could also fold the box flat, glue it together, and wrap it with the ribbon or top it off with a flower or bow.

And the Winner is...........

The winner of July's Stamp Club homework contest is NOT Lisa - but only because I forgot to post her card!  I am SOOOOOOOO sorry, Lisa.  I had so many stampers accept the Christmas in July challenge that I was overwhelmed with entries and somehow gave Lisa's card a duplicate number, so it was omitted on the contest page HERE

So here is her card:

I was super impressed with all the cards that my club members made but according to the voting the winner is:

#6 Ashleigh

Here is her winning card:.

Ashleigh is my youngest club member - she will be entering high school in the fall.  She is VERY creative and  always puts her own spin on the projects we make at club.  I LOVE that!  I will have a prize for Ashleigh at our August Stamp Club meeting.  Good timing, since she will be celebrating her birthday the next day!
