Happy Halloween!

Now that my children are grown,  I 'm not really into celebrating Halloween - but I did make some treats to give to the children in my preschool class.  These were made with the retired Fry Box Big Shot die and a retired Stampin' Up! stamp set.  Just a little something to let them know that I am "bats" about them.

This little box of Hershey  kisses is also a gift card holder.  I plan to give this to my teaching assistant to let her know how much I appreciate everything she does for me. Of course I will stick a gift card in that area where you see the half circle opening. There are lots of tutorials on YouTube showing how to make this type of treat box/card.  The one I followed was by BJ Peters.  I used Pumpkin Pie card stock and the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! to make this card.  The "No Tricks Just Treats" stamp is from October's PAPER PUMPKIN KIT.

I can't express how much I love the monthly Paper Pumpkin kits that show up in my mail box each month.  Not only is it fun to get something besides JUNK in my mailbox - but each kit comes with everything needed for a quick and fun Creative Escape!

Today is the last day to get a pack of FREE Designer Series Paper.  CLICK HERE for all the details. and to place your order online.

Mistakes Can Be a Good Thing

This is a card that we at Bingo! Stampin' Up! style earlier this month.  When I was first designing this card, I stamped the front of the card using the Hardwood background stamp from Stampin' Up!  This is what it looked like:

When I added the stamped images of leaves and acorns - I thought it was "too busy."  Not wanting to waste the card that I used to stamp the Hardwood image, I turned it over and stamped the other side of the card using the "splatter" stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I like that much butter.  So I continued on and finished the card.

When I displayed the card at Bingo - everyone asked where the stamp was to stamp the BACK of the card.  I was getting upset that they noticed my "mistake" but after the 4th or 5th person asked about it - I realized that it WAS a neat way to finish off the card.

So I think that going forward,  I will be looking for ways to stamp the back of the card from now on! What a great way to use those large background stamps!

Bingo Projects

Below are the  projects we made at our Bingo event on World Card Making Day.  Everyone made 4 cards - two each of two different designs.

This is the card that I designed for our first Bingo project.  The two leaves and the acorn stamps are from an incentive stamp set that is only available to Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  The other stamps in the set were given away as a BONUS prize for the first 10 people who signed up and paid for the event.  Below are two other greetings stampers could choose from when making their cards.

These cards were made using Crumb Cake card stock.  I used Crumb Cake ink to stamp the "splatter" using a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I also used Crumb Cake ink to sponge the Very Vanilla strips.  The little wooden pieces were on the CLEARANCE RACK earlier in September.

Below is the second card that we made at Bingo.  It was designed by my team mate, Anna.

This card was made using the Lovely as a Tree stamp set - one of the most popular sets in the Stampin' U! catalog - and probably the oldest!  The trees were stamped using Versamark ink and then heat embossed with the NEW copper embossing powder.

Check back to learn how a MISTAKE - turned into something that everyone wanted on their cards!

World Card Making Day

Saturday was World Card Making Day.  Some of my team members and I hosted a fun Bingo event - with stamping of course.  We had 22 ladies come to play 5 games of Bingo.

We played 3 games of Bingo, then took a break to make our cards - two each of two designs.  The cards were quick and easy to make.  I didn't even give these ladies a chance to sit down - because I knew they would soon be moving on to the next table to finish up the cards!

We also had a table with lots of cards and a list of people who would be blessed by receiving a hand made card - some were nursing home residents and others were fighting cancer or other illnesses.   We asked the ladies to take a minute or two to write a note to one of the people on the list.

After stamping we played two more games of bingo.  Below are the first four winners with their prizes - fabulous Stampin' Up! products.

Our 5th game is always a "Jackpot" game where the prize is a Stampin' Up! gift certificate.  We set aside $5 from each registration fee for the jackpot prize - plus we sell additional cards if anyone wants an extra chance to win.  The jackpot on Saturday reached $140.  And the winner was..............

Beverly - a first time stamper!  She was a last minute addition - taking the place of someone who was unable to attend!

Beverly decided to use her gift certificate to purchase a 6 month Paper Pumpkin subscription - plus a few additional items!  That was a great decision for a beginner stamper.  Everything she needs to make awesome paper crafting projects will be delivered right to her doorstep!

It's not too late to take advantage of the BOGO sale on Paper Pumpkin.  First time subscribers who sign up by October 10 using the promo code: BOGO, will receive the October kit PLUS the November kit will ship for FREE!!!

Check back later to see the projects that we made at this event and to find out when we will have our next Bingo - Stampin' Up! style.
