Countdown to Christmas - 10 months

Yesterday was February 25th - which means 10 months until Christmas!  That gives you plenty of time to make Christmas cards to send out this year  Why not start now - while the stress levels are still low?  If you are local to me (Chesapeake, VA) I would be happy to prep these cards for you, and help you make them.

I used the "Shepherd's Care" stamp set from Stampin' Up!  to make these cards back in September - but I wasn't keeping up with my blog at that time so I never posted them.  This stamp set is available for you to purchase now in my online store.

The card above is perfect for someone who might not be feeling the jolliest during the holidays.  It is a nice card for someone to display as a constant reminder to remember the Good Shepherd is walking with them at all times.

Below are two other cards I made using the same set.  They are all surprisingly easy to make - easy to mass produce if you make them in stages.

There are only a few more days until Sale-a-Bration ends - so be sure to place your Stampin' Up! orders by February 28th - or contact me by the 27th if you would like me to place your order for you.

Saturday Sketch #7

Here's another card I made - using a sketch challenge from a demonstrator training group I am in.  Plus, I was challenged to make this "shadow" card by my sister - who posted a video in our private customer group showing how quick and easy it is to make this kind of card.  It looked so similar to the sketch challenge from my demonstrator training group - that I combined the two challenges and came up with this card.

Below is the sketch that I used to make my card.

Here are a few other cards I made.  I used the Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper to make these cards - I think they will make great cards for the men in your life - not too fancy!  Just change the patterned paper - and make any card for anyone!

There are only a few more days until Sale-a-Bration ends - so be sure to place your Stampin' Up! orders by February 28th - or contact me by the 27th if you would like me to place your order for you.

Snow Day

We are expecting to get a major snow storm today in southeastern Virginia, so I thought it would be the perfect day to share the Snow Day Scrapbooking Workshop Kit from Stampin' Up!  This kit includes card stock, designer paper, and a sticker sheet.  It makes THREE 2-page (12x12) layouts, with supplies left over to use on other projects.  Detailed instructions are included for how to cut the paper and how to assemble the pages.  I wanted to see how easy it was to follow the directions - so, for the most part, I followed the directions as given.   I added some coordinating card and changed the photo layouts a bit - mostly because I wanted to add more photos than suggested.  I still need to add journaling to the pages - and there is plenty of room for that.

This scrapbooking kit features "sponging"  - which adds some interest and depth to the pages.  Look closely and you can see where I sponged Pool Party ink on to the white cardstock - behind the snow flake stickers.

Below is another layout from the kit - again, I added extra cardstock and photos to my pages - and I will add a journaling box in that red area on the right.

Below is the third layout from the kit.  I haven't added photos to these pages yet.  Maybe I will have snow Snow Day photos from today's snow - to create a fun page!

You can see all of the Scrapbooking workshop kits BY CLICKING HERE.

Here are some of the products I used to complete my pages.  Click on any image for more information or to add it to your shopping bag.

Saturday Sketch #6

Here's a card I made - using a sketch challenge from a demonstrator training group I am in.  If you are in a creative slump - following a sketch might be the thing that will get you out of it!  I knew I wanted to use the Toadstool Gardens Designer Series Paper for this card.  I'm not a fan of toadstools - so I used a pattern from what I consider the "back" side of the paper.  I went looking through my sets of dies that are currently availabe to purchase - and I found a set from the annual catalog that I had never even opened!  They are part of the Textured Floral bundle.  I cut the three "greenery" pieces from Soft Sea Foam, Fresh Freesia, and Melon Mambo card stock. I originally used Granny Apple Green instead of Soft Sea Foam - since that was the green coordinating color for this pack of paper.  But I thought it was too bright.  Now that I'm looking at the card - maybe the Melon Mambo is a bit too bright as well.  What do you think?  This card could be made with any color combination.  I will have to play with it some more to see what I can come up with!  I added a few shimmer gems to the bottom right corner of the card.

Below is the sketch that I used to make my card.

The Toadstool Garden paper is an item you can choose for FREE with a qualifying order from my online store - through February 28, or while supplies last.

Friendly Seagulls

Today's cards are made using the Friendly Seagulls stamp set.  You can earn it for FREE with a $60 Stampin' Up! order - but only through February 28.  It was one of the first items I chose as a Sale-a-Bration reward, but I didn't ink it up until a few days ago.  Once I started - I couldn't stop playing with it!  I went to Pinterest to find some ideas - then changed each card a bit to make it my own.

The card base for this card is Basic Beige.  I used a piece of 12x12 Pool Party two - tone card stock and tore the corner - to make the ocean water for this card.  Two-tone card stock is one of Stampin' Up!'s new scrapbooking products - but it can be used for some fun techniques on cards.  The card stock has a white "core" which allows the white edges here to look like the foamy water along the beach.  What a quick and easy card!

I wanted to use the Toadstool Gardens Designer Paper (another Sale-a-Bration item you can get for free with a $60 order) to make this card - but I could not find it anywhere when I was working on my cards!  Since it is close to Valentine's Day- I grabbed a piece of retired paper with tiny hearts for this card.  I used the Perennial Postage Dies and then stamped and did a little fussy cutting for the sea gull and french fries.

When I finally found the Toadstool Gardens DSP - I used it for the strips on this card.  Another quick and easy card.

Can you tell that I like quick and easy?  The card base is Crumb Cake card stock and the mat is Pool Party.  I sponged some crumb cake ink on the card for the sand, and a touch of Pool Party ink for the sky.  I stamped the sea gull using Memento ink, and used Blends to add a bit of color.  I did stamp the french fries on a scrap of thick white card stock, colored the image, then fussy cut it out.  But you could also just stamp the image directly on the card to keep it a bit easier to make.

Card making doesn't get much easier than this! The card base is Pecan Pie. I cut a piece of Timeless Plaid card stock, then added layers of Basic Beige and Boho Blue.  I stamped the seagull in Boho Blue ink and the Happy Birthday in Pecan Pie ink.  The stamp set for the greeting is one of my new favorites from the Jan/Apr mini: With You in Mind.

While I had the Timeless Plaid pack of paper out - I also made this card.  The square pieces are cut using the Stylish Shapes dies.  Once again, I used Boho Blue for the card base and accent piece.

My final card uses what I would call the back side of a piece of Bloom Impressions paper.  This Designer Paper is ANOTHER item you can get for free with a $60 order during these final weeks of Sale-a-bration.  Of course all of the Sale-a-bration items are while supplies last - so don't wait to place your orders if you see something you would like to get for free!  The words on this card are made using the Thoughtful Moments embossing folder.  This embossing folder comes with a die - that cuts out and embosses 10 greetings - as well as a few accent pieces.  I used Blueberry Bushel two-tone card stock - and after I ran it through the cut and emboss machine - I rubbed a small sanding sponge over the words to rub away the blue and reveal the white center of this card stock.  I really like how this turned out - and will be experimenting with this technique some more.

I hope you enoyed seeing all of these cards - and learning about some of the Stampin' Up! products I used to make them.  If I have inspired you - I hope you will consider placing an order from my online store.  Remember - for each $60 you spend (before tax and shipping) you will be able to choose one of the Sale-a-bration items.  But only through February 28 - so don't wait too long!
