Side Step Birthday Card

Here is a birthday card that I made for a very special 3 year old.  It is another side step card.  You can see the Halloween side step card I made and a video tutorial BY CLICKING HERE.

The birthday card is made mostly with retired Stampin' Up! products.  I saw several cards on Pinterest like this (with a cake.)  When searching through my stash of paper - I found the cute Mylar "3" balloon in a retired 6x6 pack, along with the other balloons and candles.  The white " frosting" is made using a retired scallop border punch.  I added a personal message on the back of the card.

This fun fold card is easy to make and it fits into a regular Medium envelope.  I have a feeling I will be making more of these side step cards!

Frightfully Cute Side Step Card - video tutorial

Here is a video where I show you how to cut, score, and fold a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of card stock - to make a cute side step card.  I made mine a Halloween card - but you could make any kind of card using this fun fold.  It really is not that hard to make - if you have a good paper trimmer!

Watch until the end of the video to see 11 additional projects I made using the Frightfully Cute bundle.  (If you are viewing this in your email - you may need to click on the title to load the video.)

CLICK HERE to see the cards on an earlier blog post.

Below are two versions of the same card.  I made some minor changes to my original card - can you spot them?

Here are the differences:

  • The trees in the top card were made using Soft Suede card stock; for the bottom card I used the Black Glitter paper.
  • I used Basic Gray card stock to make the fence in the top card; for the bottom card I used Smokey Slate.
  • The owl in the top photo is die cut from Crumb Cake card stock; for the bottom card I used Soft Suede card stock.
  • You probably can't see the tombstones very well in either photo.  In the bottom card, I clustered them together in the back - and popped them up using Stampin' Dimensionals. The tombstones were fussy cut from a piece of the Cute Halloween Designer Series Paper.
  • I added a purple crow - cut from a piece of the Cute Halloween DSP - to the bottom card.
  • In the top card, I used Basic Black card stock for the scallop circle behind the greeting.  For the bottom card I used Black Glitter paper.
  • I used a piece of Gold Shimmer Ribbon for the top card and Black & White Gigham ribbon for the bottom card.

12 Frightfully Cute Halloween Cards

Here are several cards that I made using the Frightfully Cute bundle (Frightfully Cute stamp set and Frightful tags dies) from the current mini catalog from Stampin' Up!  The cards above and the little treat pouch feature the "Cute Halloween" pack of 6x6 designer paper.  I love the paper - its not scary at all - just fun and cute.

In the photo below you will see more cards that I made using this bundle.  I had fun making all of these cards - but especially love how the two "fun fold" cards came together - and will post videos showing you how I made them very soon.  The card in the lower right corner uses the back side of the designer paper; some of it is not even Halloween themed - which is why I turned it into an elegant birthday card!

I featured all of these cards in the 2 Sisters Stamping private Facebook Group.  My sister, Donna, and I had a lot of fun sharing projects made using products from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  We gave away lots of prizes and offered some great ordering specials.  If you are not a member of that group - be sure to ask to join so you won't miss our next Virtual events.

Below are some of the products I used to make my cards.
