Saturday Sketch #13

Here's another quick and easy card that I made following a sketch.  I used the Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! to make this card.  It is an Online Exclusive pack of paper - so you may have missed it.  I used this DSP on two other cards which you can see HERE and HERE.

I used a retired oval die to cut the main floral image for this card.  We don't currently sell an oval shaped die - but there is one coming in the July Online Exclusives.

The Petal Pink banner layer is made using the Party Banners dies.  Instead of a stamped sentiment, I used one of the sentiments from an ephemera pack, making this card super quick and easy!

Below is the sketch that I used to make my card.

After seeing this sketch - I realized that I forgot to add some embellishements to my card.!

Measurements to make this card:
  • Thick Basic White card stock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2; scored at 4-1/4
  • Petal Pink DSP Party Banner die cut; approx 3-1/2 x 4-1/2
  • Secret Sea DSP layer: 4-1/4 x 3
  • Oval die cut piece: approx 3 x 4

6 Weeks Until Christmas - Quick and Easy cards

Christmas is six weeks from today - which means there is still time to make cards to send to your friends and family.  All of the cards I feature today were made using the Joyful Days Memories & More card pack.  There are 54 double sided cards in this pack; some are 3 x 4" and some are 4 x 6".  You get six of each design - so you can make multiples of the same design - or  you can make all of your card designs different!

The two cards below were made using the Memories and More cards layered on a card front - with the smaller card matted with the same card stock as the card base.  Super easy.  I trimmed the background card on the right to show more of the card base.  The card on the left has an added greeting from a retired stamp set.

The cards below were inspired by a card sketch.  I cut one of the larger cards into smaller pieces and attached to the card base in opposite corners.  Then I die cut - or trimmed one of the cards to make the focal piece.  For the card on the left, I added ribbon behind the sentiment piece.  The card on the right has diagonal card stock strips as an accent.

I featured the cards below on an earlier "Saturday Sketch" blog post in Septemeber.  I used the Branching Out dies to add accent pieces to these cards.  You can see that post BY CLICKING HERE.

Here are some of the products I used to make my cards.  Unfortunately, the Memories and More cards are currently out of stock - but are due to be back later this month.  Because these cards are quick and easy - you will still have time to make these cards and get them in the mail before Christmas.  If you click on an unavailable item below - you can ask Stampin' Up! to send an email letting you know when it is available to order.

Stack, Cut, and Shuffle Card Set

Once a month I teach a "Coffee and Cards" class at one of my city's recreation centers.  This month I had the ladies make a set of 4 cards using some of my retired Designer Series Paper.  I took four pieces of designer paper, cut them all at once following the cutting guide below - then shuffled the pieces around on the four cards.  This is a great way to use up paper - so you can buy more!  And all of the cards will be beautiful because of the color coordination of Stampin' Up! products.

I also cut 4 mats using Night of Navy card stock.  I placed one of each patterned paper pieces onto the mats -and then rearranged them until I was happy with the way they looked.  Because the paper did not have a directional pattern - I was able to make two horizontal cards and two vertical cards.  I layered each mat with the patterned paper onto a regular 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 card base.  I used various punches and dies to add greetings to the cards.

At class - I encouraged the participants to arrange the paper however they wanted - and to check the back side of the paper as well.  They all came up with different cards- which are pictured below!

I love how they all made their cards unique - and especially liked the look of using just two patterns, like in the photo above.  Again, this is a great way to use some of that designer paper that I'm sure you have been hoarding!

If you live in the Chesapeake, Virginia - or any of the surrounding cities - please consider joining me at my next class on Friday, May 30th.  I do not have registration info at this time - so please reach out to me if you are interested and I will send the link when it becomes available.

Be sure to check out the LAST CHANCE LIST for some amazing discounts on retiring products.  They are only available while supplies last - so get them while you can!

Saturday Sketch #12

Here's a card I made - using a sketch challenge from a demonstrator training group I am in.  If you are in a creative slump - following a sketch might be the thing that will get you out of it.  I have been making a lot of cards using the Spotlight on Nature stamp set and dies - before they retire.  This card is just my style - quick and easy as well as monochromatic!

I made a stencil using the new "Meant to Bee" dies.  Then I used a blending brush to add color to the white panel.  I inked up the floral image from the stamp set and stamped over the blue hexagon shape.  I wrapped black baker's twine around the white layer, added the greeting and layered it on a Balmy Blue layer and then a white card base.

Below is the sketch that I used to make my card.

Here are some of the products I used to make today's card.  Click on any image to add it to your shopping cart in my online store.  Don't wait to order the Spotlight on Nature bundle!  It will most likely go on the Last Chance list soon!

Saturday Sketch #9 - For the Books

Here's a card I made - using a sketch challenge from a demonstrator training group I am in.  If you are in a creative slump - following a sketch might be the thing that will get you out of it.   I wanted to make some sample projects using the "For the Books" bundle - from the Jan/April 2025 Stampin' Up! mini catalog.  Once I had my hands on this set - I could not stop playing with it.  Check back on Wednesday to see all the cards and 3D projects I made using it.  The best thing about this bundle is the low price - only $28.75 for BOTH the stamp set and coordinating dies!

Below is the sketch that I used to make my card:
