Popcorn Snowmen

We had about 6 inches of snow on Saturday and - we are on our third day of no school here in Chesapeake Virginia!  Yes, that amount of snow just shuts down everything around here.  Only the main roads get cleared - and we just wait for it to melt off the neighborhood roads.  I thought I'd better share this short video I made of the Popcorn Snowmen I made for the children in my preschool class for Christmas - before everyone is sick of the snow.  (I may be too late!)

Tea, anyone?

This is the 3D project we made at our stamp club meeting in May.  I also gave one of these to everyone who attended my CREATIVE ESCAPE in April.  This project was designed by Brenda Quintana and you can find the directions on her blog, Qbees Quest.  This is not as hard to make as you might think!  Come join me at my monthly stamp club meeting and you will learn how to make cute little things like this!

One More Convention Gift

I received these beautiful note cards from one of my sister stampers.......and I don't know who she is!  A large group of us went out to dinner one night while at convention.  I was late arriving because I was participating in an organized SWAP.  These cards were at my place when I arrived.  It was very hectic when I arrived: - between ordering our dinner and doing our card swap, I never found out who gave me this awesome gift!  If I find out, I will be sure to edit this post to give her credit.

Edited to add: These note cards were made by Michele Doherty.  (Thanks, Liz!)

Convention Gifts - part 2

Here are a few more "pillow gifts" that I received from my sister stampers at the Stampin' Up! Convention in July.  The fabric flower, paper flower (on my name tag) and the mini post it note key ring were made by Monica.
This cute fabric bag was made by Liz.  She put a bag of yummy almonds inside.
This is a bag tag that I received from Phyliss.

Convention Gifts

These are shrinky dink bag tags/key rings that I made for my sister Southern Stars as a little convention gift.
These are more shrinky dink key rings for other friends who were at convention.
I thought everyone knew about shrinky dinks, but when I was telling a friend about what I was making, she did not know what shrinky dinks were.  The top tag was printed on shrinky dink film and after it was in a toaster oven for a few minutes, it SHRUNK to the smaller size.  They are fun to watch as they curl up and then flatten back down when they are shrinking.

Only a few more days until my Birthday Bash Stamp Camp.

Thanks for Stopping By!

Washi Tape

This was the "3D" item we made at my June stamp club meetings.  They are wooden clothes pins covered with Stampin' Up!'s new washi tape.  It is very similar to masking tape.  We just covered the clothes pins with the tape and trimmed off any excess.  Clip them to a piece of card stock, pop them into a cello bag, and finish it off with a topper made using the Top Note Die and Big Shot.  Another quick and simple project.  Makes a cute little gift.  The clips can be used to keep your snack bags closed, as a way to organize papers, or as a bookmark.  Add a magnet to the back and stick them to your fridge for holding notes and recipes.

Sesame Street Friends

These are some favors I made for a workshop I will be doing next week. Anna and Amy asked me to demonstrate projects on a children’s theme……..since Amy is expecting her second child. Anna is the proud Grandmother. The Sesame Street characters are made using the Scallop Circle punch, and several other Stampin’ Up punches. I basically followed the directions HERE for making them. They take a little bit of time to make………but they are worth the effort. My favorite is Oscar the Grouch!

Back to Blogging

I thought I would be able to post more often during the summer, but I kept very busy with two family vacations, a family camping trip, my retail job, and almost weekly trips to Busch Gardens, Williamsburg. I may be getting older.....but I am still able to keep up with the kids on the Griffon and Apollo's Chariot.

As a former teacher, I always considered September the beginning of a new year. So I am making a resolution (again!) to try and post Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Earlier this summer I did a workshop for Stephanie, who is planning her wedding. These are little favors I made, to give her some ideas that she could use for favors st the reception, or for little thank you gifts. If you want more information or directions for making any of these projects, just send me an email, or leave a comment. Thanks for looking!

Thank You Bouquet

This flower/candy bouquet was one of the gifts I gave to my hostess, Stephanie, at her workshop. I cut the flowers using the Big Shot and the Daisy Die #2. I gave the flowers, some candy, bamboo skewers, floral tape, and curling ribbon to my kids, and told them to make a bouquet like the one I saw on someone’s blog. (My apologies to the creative gal who came up with the original idea. I printed the photo without referencing where I got it from.) This kept Emily and Ben busy for all of 30 minutes (if that!) Super easy to make, and a cute little gift. Thanks for taking a look today!

School's Out!

I made several of these cards for Ben's teachers using the Tart and Tangy stamp set. (The patterned paper is non Stampin' Up.) The orange spins around to reveal a strawberry. But the best part of this card (in my opinion) is the inside where there is a gift card to Tropical Smoothie Cafe! Yummy! Thanks for looking. I hope to post more often now that school is out and the kids activities are over.

Egg Hunt

Tomorrow is Stamp Club and the 3D project we will be making is this altered soup can. I opened the can using a Pampered Chef can opener – the kind that doesn’t leave a sharp edge. After enjoying the soup and washing the can, I covered it with patterned paper (non SU.) I used the new “Egg Hunt” wheel from the Occasions mini catalog on a 1” strip of whisper white. I colored the eggs using colored pencils. I used the Eyelet Border punch along both edges of a 3” strip of Lovely Lilac cardstock, and then layered it onto the can using SNAIL and sticky strip. I used a retired stamp to make the tag, but I think I will use the scraps from the 1” wheeled strip when we make the project tomorrow. Then you fill the can with whatever you choose, seal it back up using Crystal Effects, craft glue, or a hot glue gun. The person you give the gift to, opens the can using the pop top. I made these for teacher gifts for different holidays (filling them with candy and a lottery ticket) and they were a big hit!

March Club Project #2

I have seen this little treat bag created by many demonstrators over the past few months. It is made using the Top Note Die/Big Shot and mini paper bags (I found mine at Michaels.) My bag uses Bashful Blue, So Saffron, and Certainly Celery cardstock. The flower is stamped using the Polka Dot Punches “Sale-A-Bration” set (LOVE IT!!!) and the 5 Petal Flower Punch. The sentiment is stamped using Yummy, another SAB stamp set. These sets are only available through March 31 and are FREE with a $50 order. I filled my bag with chocolate, of course! Thanks for looking!

Thank You Gift

Here is a little something I gave to my stamp club members with their January orders. I used Valentine’s paper that I found at the dollar spot at Target, red Christmas clearance ribbon from Michael’s, and the Wow Flowers stamp set (from Stampin’ Up, of course.) I filled these “sour cream” containers with mini tootsie rolls. Here is the tutorial I followed.
