New In Colors: 2025-2027

One of the most exciting things about the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog is seeing the new In Colors.  These are five colors that are added to the "core" color collection every year and will remain in  the collection for two years.  This year' s colors are Cloud Cover, Timid Tiger, Darling Duckling, Strawberry Slush, and Secret Sea.  I used these card stock colors to do the "color blocking" and matting on these cards.

I have used this card layout several times - where I take four pieces of paper and cut into strips vertically and then horizontally.  I wasn't really measuring when I cut the pieces - and didn't realize that I actually cut them the same!  As you can see in the photo above - the top two solid color layers are both long pieces and the bottom two layers are shorter.  For the bottom two cards - I mixed up the pieces so that the same size pieces were NOT next to each other.   It just goes to show you that you can cut the pieces any way you want - and just rearrange them into a pleasining arrangement.

For my very first card - I used the dark blue Secret Sea color as the card base.  It looks nice - that dark color is striking!  But for the other cards I decided to use a white card base - and use the dark blue as a mat layer.  I just had to trim the pieces a little smaller to get the small border showing all around and between the pieces.

For all of the cards, I cut a piece of Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper with a Secret Sea mat - and layered it in the center of the card.  I added various greeting and embellishments to the cards.

After I made the first card, I decided it could use a little something more.  So ran the card stock pieces through and embossing folder.  It adds a nice detail to the cards.

Then, another idea I had was to use Versamark Ink on the card stock pieces;  I stamped a small floral image around the outside of the car stock pieces.  That adds another pretty detail to the card.

This is a card that you can make with any colors for any occasion.  I hope you will give it a try.

Saturday Sketch #19

Here is the card that I made using the weekly sketch from a demonstrator training group I am in.  I fussy cut the flowers and leaves from the new Florals in Bloom designer series paper.  I layered the flowers on a Blackberry Bliss circle, cut using the Spotlight on Nature dies. I embossed a piece of Bubble Bath card stock, then layered it on a Blackberry Bliss mat.  The card base is Petunia Pop.  I couldn't figure out where to add a sentiment to the front of the card - nothing looked right to me.  So I added a bow and embellishments to the card front - to fill in some of the empy space.

Here is the sketch I used to make this card:

Floral Frame

This is the project that we made at the kids' class which I teach every month for my city's Parks, Recreation, and Tourism department.  This is a class where every child (ages 6-12) makes a project along with his/her mother/grandmother/other adult.  Every month the project is something completely different - and they never know what they will be making when they sign up.  (I don't even know what the project will be until a week or so before class - when I start preparing for it!)

For this class, I cut the pieces to make four flowers for each child, using a retired set of dies (Paper Florist.) I taught the girls how to put the pieces together to make four different kinds of flowers.  Then they could make as many additional flowers in whatever colors they wanted to complete their projects.  They loved using the Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine to cut more flowers and greenery to complete their projects.  If you zoom in on the photo below - you will see that each project is unique and each one is  beautiful!  Just looking at their smiles tells me they had a great time.

These classes always sell out quickly because they are limited to 8 children/adult pairs - but if you are local to me (Chesapeake, VA) and want a creative activity like this for a group of children AND ADULTS - just CONTACT ME for pricing and other project ideas.

Saturday Sketch #18

Here is the card that I made using the weekly sketch from a demonstrator training group I am in.  I wanted to make a card using the new Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper.  This paper is an Online Exclusive - which means it is not featured in any printed catalog.  Please do not miss out on these items - there are some really great products - available online only.  New products were just released in May and there will be more new ones coming in July!

Be sure to check out all of the Online Exclusives by CLICKING HERE.

To make this card, I cut a 2 x 12 inch strip of DSP, then I cut out the two banner pieces by using Nested Essential Dies.  I trimmed the remaining piece of DSP to use as the green accent piece.  I used a white card base and added an embossed layer on top, before layering on my DSP pieces.  The greeting is from from the Sharing, Loving, Crafting stamp set.  I used various circle punches and the Round we Go dies to make the label.  These dies were in the old catalog, not in the new one, but they are still available online.  It's a great set to have, even if you don't buy the coordinating stamp set!  I finished off the card with In Color Flat Pearls and a touch of Wink of Stella on the word "Brighten."

Saturday Sketch #17

Here is the card that I made using the weekly sketch from a demonstrator training group I am in.  I used Celebration Expressions Memories & More cards - which makes this card go together very quickly!

I am not a huge fan of the color Lemon Lime Twist - so I went out of my comfort zone to use it as the background layer on this card.  I added texture using a retired embossing folder - sorry!  It's hard to keep up with what is still available and what has retired!

I cut a 1-1/2" strip off one of the larger cards (with all the words) then matted it on a slightly larger strip of the NEW Timid Tiger card stock. I layered it on the Lemon Lime Twist layer - I made sure that the word "birthday" was going to show at the bottom right - then I trimmed off the excess.  This piece was then layerd on the Timid Tiger card base.

The square images are about 2" - I cut the candle piece first (making sure I cut between the candles) - and then just used that measurement for the other piece.  The mats are slightly larger.

This pack of cards will be available in the 2025-2026 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog - beginning May 6.  I will be sharing other cards that I made using these Memories and More cards, in a private customer group - part of "A Card a Day in May" catalog launch event.  If you have purchased from me or attended an event in the past year - make sure you are part of the 2 Sisters Stamping Facebook Group.  Not a member?  Just request to join and answer the questions!

Here is the sketch that I used to make my card.
