Saturday Sketch #19

Here is the card that I made using the weekly sketch from a demonstrator training group I am in.  I fussy cut the flowers and leaves from the new Florals in Bloom designer series paper.  I layered the flowers on a Blackberry Bliss circle, cut using the Spotlight on Nature dies. I embossed a piece of Bubble Bath card stock, then layered it on a Blackberry Bliss mat.  The card base is Petunia Pop.  I couldn't figure out where to add a sentiment to the front of the card - nothing looked right to me.  So I added a bow and embellishments to the card front - to fill in some of the empy space.

Here is the sketch I used to make this card:

Emboss it!

Did you see the video I posted on Monday - with 14 cards made using the Hydrangea Haven stamp set?  If not CLICK HERE to see it. Today I want to feature the two cards that are made using embossing folders that will be retiring on May 3.  These are two embossing folders that add beautiful details to cards and I would not want you to miss out on getting them!  They are both on sale - while supplies last or until May3 (which ever occurs first.)

I used the Scripty embossing folder to make the card shown above.  It is a 6x6 folder with lines of cursive writing.  It is just so beautiful and adds a bit of elegance to the card.

Basic directions for making this card:
  • Gorgeous Grape card base 5-1/2 x 8-1/2
  • Basic White card stock 4 x 5-1/4, embossed using the Scripty embossing folder
  • Designer Series Paper strips (3 of them ) 1/2 x 4
  • Stamp the hydrangea on a piece of Basic White card stock using Memento Ink; stamp the "fill" for the leaves and stem using Old Olive ink then use die to cut out the entire flower
  • Cut a flower head from a piece of Hydrangea Hill designer series paper using the detailed die
  • Cut an "outline" of the flower head from Highland Heather card stock - and placed it behing the designer series paper piece.
  • Layer all pieces on the card base using the photo as a guide.
  • Add Pastel Pearls, if desired

For the card above, I used the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder.  This is one of my absolute favorites.  If you could see this in real life - you would see that it amost sparkles, like a real diamond.  Again, it is such an easy way to add elegance to any card.

Basic Directions for making this card:
  • Highland Heather card base 5-1/2 x 8-1/2
  • Gorgeous Grape mat layer 4 x 5-1/4
  • Basic White embossed layer 3-3/4 x 5
  • Wrap Gorgeous Grape ribbon around the white layer and tie in a bow
  • Purple Posty label, cut with Stitched Nested Label die
  • Greeting is from Best Year stamp set
  • Flowers are cut (using scissors) from a piece of Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper
  • Layer all pieces on the card base using the photo as a guide.
  • Add Pastel Pearls, if desired

You will need a Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine from Stampin' Up! or other comparable machine, to use the embossing folders.  Below are some of the products featured on these cards. Just click on any image to add the item to your shopping bag in my online store.   For  full list of supplies visit my previous post BY CLICKING HERE.

August Stamp Club project

I received this card in a SWAP at convention.  I LOVE Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Paper and how the colors all coordinate so well.  I have been seeing a lot of cards using this technique on different blogs and decided to try it for myself.  I watched several videos on You Tube to see how it was done.  The card below is the one we made at my August stamp club meetings.
We used the Gingham Garden designer series paper, which has a lot of bright bold patterns.  I mixed in solid card stock to keep those floral patterns from over powering the card.  I also textured the card stock pieces using various embossing folders and the Big Shot.  Below are the cards my Sunday Stampers made - to show you how great they look using various colors of card stock and ink.

CONTACT ME if you would like to join in the fun at my monthly stamp club meetings.  Or gather a group of your friends for a private party.

Need a creative escape, but can't get away?!  Check out MY PAPER PUMPKIN.  A paper crafting kit will be delivered to your door, with everything you need (except adhesive) to complete a project in about 30 minutes.  Sign up by August 31 and the first two months will only be $10 a  month, with SHIPPING INCLUDED!  Let me know if you sign up so I can enter you in my drawing for a FREE PAPER PUMPKIN KIT!
