From All of Us

The director of the preschool where I work asked if I would make a card for the daughter of a former teacher at our school who is fighting breast cancer.  I used some pieces from October's Paper Pumpkin kit to make the leaves and small tag on this card.  The card base is a full sheet of Crumb Cake  card stock folded in half - so there was plenty of room inside for everyone to write a personal note.  I stamped the leaves on the card base using Crumb Cake ink.  The strip of paper along the side of the card is from the Painted Harvest Designer Series Paper.  All products are from Stampin' Up!  The "Thinking of You" stamp is retired - but one of my all time classic favorites.

Here is the inside - I stamped some leaves and a verse from the Rose Wonder stamp set on Whisper White card stock and attached to the inside of the card, before I passed it around for everyone to sign.  I hope it will help her to know we all care about her and are praying for her.

Silver Anniversary Wishes

Last month my husband, Cliff, and I celebrated our 25th anniversary.  We took a long, scenic drive from Virginia to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls - for a second honeymoon.  One of the highlights of our getaway was celebrating with a dinner at the SKYLON TOWERWe had a delicious dinner with a great view of the American Falls from 775 feet above.  I planned on giving Cliff this card at dinner - but I was so excited with the dinner and gorgeous view, that I completely forgot.  So I gave it to him when we got back to our hotel.

Here is a picture of us at dinner.

Anniversary Wishes

This is a card that I made for my nephew and his wife's third anniversary - which is today.  I'm sorry this is not the best photo - I snapped it on Monday morning in my kitchen before I put it in the envelope to mail.    I used the new Pool Party Stampin' Blends to color the blue background behind the chairs.  The chairs were cut out of paper from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack  using the Adirondack chair die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.

Below is a one minute video to introduce you to the new Stampin' Blends markers.  They are alcohol  based markers that are great for shading and blending smooth lines, when coloring stamped images.

The Stampin' Blends are available to purchase in my online store, beginning today!

If you choose to place an online order, please use November's hostess code: 3V747A4P  and I will send you a surprise "thank you" gift.

Dragonfly Dreams - part 3

This is the third card we made at my January stamp club classes - using the Dragon Fly Dreams stamp set from Stampin' Up!  There were  just so many cute cards on Pinterest that inspired me - that I couldn't stop using the stamp set and coordinating thinlits!

This card also uses the new watercolor pencils for the colorful background.  I started by just scribbling some color onto a piece of thick whisper white card stock.  Then I used an aqua painter to go over the colors to give them a smooth watercolor look.  I cut out the group of dragonflies using the dies and then attached them to the card using glue dots.  I finished the card by stamping the greeting and then layering onto black cardstock and then onto a white card base.

Below is a similar card - using different colors of pencils and using Copper foil paper instead of black card stock.

This is another "WOW" card that is so easy to make.  Let me show you how!

Dragonfly Dreams - part 2

We made this card at my January stamp club classes - using Stampin' Up! products.  We started with a Crumb Cake card base.  We cut the dragonfly from Blushing Bride glimmer paper using Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies, then glued a piece of "Falling in Love" Designer Series Paper on top of the glimmer paper - covering the hole left from cutting out the dragonfly.  This is a great tip for saving valuable paper!  The oval was cut from Layering Oval Framelits - only because I hadn't received my Stitched Framelits when I made this card!  I sponged around the outside of the oval using Crumb Cake ink.  The "Thank You" if from the All Things Thanks stamp set.  This card has the "WOW" factor - yet it was so easy to make.  Let me show you how!

Dragonfly Dreams

When Stampin' Up! revealed the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set at OnStage in November - my first reaction was "eewww."  I think of dragonflies as big ugly bugs that sting and I did NOT like this stamp set one bit.  But I definitely was in the minority - because just about everyone else there seemed to "ooh" and "aah" over it.  And just about everyone who has seen the cards I made with the set - has also gone on to buy the stamp set and coordinating Detailed Dragonfly thinlits dies.

This card was made using a Pear Pizzazz card stock card base.  The dots are stamped twice using Pear Pizzazz ink.  I stamped the dragon fly using Stampin' Up!'s archival black ink then cut it out using the coordinating die.  The wings were colored using the NEW watercolor pencils.  I colored using the pencils first, then blended the colors together using a blender pen.  This set does have some great choice for greetings for the front and inside of the card.

Below is the same card with the white piece and black mat tilted a bit.

You can bundle the stamp set and dies together and save 10%.  And for an additional $3.25 purchase,  you will earn a FREE Sale-a-bration item.

Good Luck!

Today is the first day of school here in Chesapeake, Virginia.  I made this card to give to my son, Ben.  It will be his Senior Year in High School and I am going to stick a gift card inside so that he can stop for breakfast on his way to school.  I saw a similar card on Pinterest by Erica Cerwin but I made a few small changes.

I will be heading back to school myself - for another year of teaching preschool.

Good luck to all you students and teachers - have a great year!

Club Card #1

This was the first card we made at my February stamp club classes.  It uses the stamp set, "What I Love," from Stampin' Up!  You can only get this stamp set for FREE, with a $50 purchase (through March 31st.)  This is a Three Step stamp.  The flower is stamped in layers which makes for a really pretty image.  We used Wisteria Wonder ink for the first two layers, then finished off with Elegant Eggplant.  Beautiful and really easy, too.  That's the best kind of card to make!

If you would like to  join the fun of stamp club this month PLEASE CONTACT ME for more information or VISIT MY STAMPIN' UP! WEBSITE to RSVP for a class!

Happy Valentine's Day

This is one of the Valentine cards that we made at my annual SOUPer Bowl party last week.  Super simple to make, but I think it is so elegant.  The stamped greeting is one of my favorites from a retired Sale-a-bration set.

This is one of the cards that we made at my January stamp club classes.  It could also be used as a Valentine card.  This set has been very popular during this year's Sale-a-Bration, and there is only ONE DAY LEFT to get it before it goes away for ever!!!

Pilgrim Projects

I am still catching up with posting my stamp club projects.  Here are two projects we made at my November classes - a Pilgrim card and matching Fry Box.  I CASED these projects from Tami White, another Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  I was searching Pinterest and found these cute projects.  They are easy to make - the trickiest part is cutting the scallop for the fry box.  Just tricky - not difficult!

Tin Of Cards

This was one of the cards we made at my October stamp club classes.  We used the 2015-2017 In Color card stock, ink, envelope paper and Blossom Accents to make this card - all from Stampin' Up! of course.  The color of this card is Mint Macaron.

The "happy birthday' greeting comes from the Tin of Card stamp set.  The stamp set was designed to coordinate with the Tin of Cards Project Kit.  But it is a great set with a lot of nice greetings - suitable for many occasions.

Countdown to Christmas - 2 months

I can't believe it - but there are only 2 months until Christmas!  Have you been working on your Christmas cards throughout the year?  I have been making a few each month, and for the first time in several years, I am hoping to get them mailed out in time this year!

This is a gift card holder that I made last year for everyone that I work with.  Inside, I put a gift certificate for a local restaurant where we all went for lunch on the last day of school before Christmas Break.
If you do not want a gift card holder, then you can just cut off the bottom flap of the card.

All year long, on the 25th of each month, I have posted a Christmas Card.  You can see them all by clicking each link below.

Birthday Gift Bag

Three of the children in my preschool class will be turning 4 years old this week.  This is the gift bag I made for Katherine, whose birthday we will celebrate today.  I started with a white gift bag that I purchased at the craft store.  I cut a piece of card stock to fold over the top - so she can't peek in until she gets home!  I used the modern label punch to cut out a section to fit over the handles.  I was just going to make the banner, then decided to stamp some flowers on the bag to coordinate with the Designer Series Paper I used in the banner.
This is a close up of the banner.  I used the Bow Builder punch to make the bow.  (The number 4 was cut using a retired Bigz Die.)

This is the card that I will put inside the bag with a few goodies for the Birthday Girl.  I thought I was being clever this summer when I made enough of these candle cards for my entire class.  But now I wish I would have waited and used colors that coordinated with the bag.  I made the candles using scraps of retired paper - so I didn't have any left to decorate the gift bag.  Oh well, I'm sure Katherine won't notice!

Just Because

This is the second card we made at my August stamp club classes.  We used the Papillon Potpourri stamp set from Stampin' Up! and the coordinating Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly punches.  And when you open the card this is what you see inside......

a butterfly cut using the Butterfly Thinlits dies.

These are the kinds of fun cards we made at my monthly classes.  You wouldn't believe how easy this card is to make - unless you come on over to my place and make one for yourself!

Stampers' Appreciation Breakfast - The Make & Takes

The first project we made at my recent Stampers' Appreciation Breakfast was a Creativity Journal/Sketchbook.
The "Lucky Charms" spiral notebook on the left was covered with Designer Series Paper and Die Cut letters to make the book on the right.  I adapted an idea I saw on Lyssa Zwolansk's Blog for Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  I printed her list of Creative Challenges, with a few changes, and told my stampers to glue the list to the inside covers of their journals.

So often I hear my stampers say "I'm not creative" and quite honestly, I say it about myself all the time.  So I am going to accept the challenge I gave to my stampers, which is to choose at least one item from the list each month, complete the task in my journal, and then share it at one of my monthly stamp club classes!

Below is the second project we made, which is a card that expresses how I feel about ALL of my stampers.  It was made using supplies from 2015 Sale-a-bration items, including the "Simply Wonderful" Stamp Set.
I had a contest for my current stamp club members to win this set!  Anyone who placed an order with me on the last day of SAB was entered into a drawing to win the set.  And to show that I really do award prizes, below is a photo of Diane with the stamp set she won!
I sure had fun hosting the Stampers' Appreciation Breakfast for my stampers.  I hope to make it an annual event.

If you think you might like to be part of my stamp club, please CONTACT ME for more information.  The best part is that there is NO OBLIGATION to order every month.  But if you do - you get to choose FREE STAMPIN' UP! merchandise, based on the amount you spend!

March Stamp Club Card 2

This is the second card we made at my stamp club classes in March.  I CASED this card from Pinterest (Laura Mellinger.)  I loved the design so much that all I changed was the ribbon, only because I didn't have the ribbon she used.  The card stock colors are Crisp Cantaloupe and Very Vanilla.  The flower was stamped with Crisp Cantaloupe and Blushing Bride.

I always encourage my club members to be creative and change the card if they have another ideas.  Below is how one club member changed the design.  I think it is another beautiful card.
